Nat 5 Trigonometry
Trigonometry can be used to find various aspects of a triangle, including its area, an angle and the length of a side.
We can use the trigonometric formulae, the area of a triangle, the sine rule and the cosine rule.
A bearing is an angle measured clockwise from north.
Bearings are used in real-world applications to describe the position of objects in relation to each other, such as in navigation and engineering.
We can use angle properties as well as the sine and cosine rules to find unknown sides and angles in bearing questions.
Trigonometric graphs are the graphical representations of the sine, cosine and tangent functions.
We can find the equation of a trigonometric function from its graph.
Some equations involve trig functions.
We can solve these equations using the CAST diagram.
Trigonometric identities are statements or equations which are true for any value of the trig function(s).
There are two trig identities we need to remember:
tanx= sinx/cosx
sin^2x + cos^2x=1
We can use these identities to simplify and change trigonometric expressions.
